Another season in the books!!
Thank you to everyone for such a successful season. We had a ton of points scored and at least half the league had championship caliber rosters by seasons end.
I will always look to tweak the rules a bit to make everything more fair for everyone and I think I will add in a second waiver draft per week next year. I might move up the first waiver draft to around 9pm on Wednesday, open up K/D to free agent adding up until 9am on Sunday (or Saturday if there is a Saturday game), but then do a second waiver draft at noon on Saturday's for those who didn't pull the trigger on Wednesday or have had injuries affect them throughout the rest of the week. This way there should be a full and active roster at all times.
Of course I'll put it up to a vote.
We can always (even if Jody is upset about it) re-vote on anything that didn't pass last year because people have stated that they might have made a mistake in voting this past offseason.
When I reach out to everyone in July we can revisit this topic.
As for the Super Bowl...let's get right to the recap:
I was vying for my 5th Super Bowl while my opponent, Mike, was looking for his 1st title. With both sides having some injury concerns, the final projection for the game didn't hit until Sunday morning with CBS predicting a 96-92 victory for Mike. One of us got near our projection...the other ran out of luck.
With 5 players each playing at 1pm on Sunday, it was expected that our winner might emerge from that. Neither team did much scoring, but I held a decent lead behind 14 from Arian Foster (who threw a TD pass), 13 from Jordy Nelson and the newly added Panthers D who clawed out 12 points. Mike got 8 from Randall Cobb, 7 from Jimmy Graham (who lost 8 points on a goal line TD/Fumble call) and 6 from Jonas Gray.
The 4:30 game between Indianapolis and Dallas was going to tell the story. Mike had Andrew Luck going while I had Tony Romo and an injured DeMarco Murray. By 5:15 the game was over. The Cowboys trounced the Colts in the real world and the fantasy world behind 28 points and 4 TDs from Romo and 11 points and a TD from Murray. All three players were done playing by the middle of the 3rd quarter and the Super Bowl title was back in my hands.
Final Score: Escaped Lunatics 87 Bookoo Barbarians 26
As for the 3rd place game:
Jason II/Ike got 17 each from Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Cameron along with 16 from Emmanuel Sanders to run away from John who had a game high 26 points from Kyle Orton.
Final Score: Myra's College Fund 82 The Situation 57
Final Standings and payouts for 2014:
1st: Jason $375
2nd: Mike $165
3rd: Ike $75 (via Jason II)
4th: John $35
5th: Luke $10
6th: Joel
7th: Nate $10
8th: Matt
9th: Ben $20
10th: Alex
11th: Jody
12th: Adam
13th: Nick B $10
14th: Nick G
So 8/14 took home some money which is always nice to see.
Nick G you are on draft board duties so no missing the draft for a hockey game/preseason Redskins game/etc.....
Until 2015...

FCNPFFL: Playoffs - Semifinals
So much for good teams scoring a ton of points. Just like last week, teams that had spent all season tickling triple digits barely scored half as much. I can't even chalk up the low scoring due to injuries, it's just been bad play all around. The games this week were a bit more competitive, but both decided before Monday night.
Waivers will still be ran late Wednesday night.
Thursday night is the annual FCNP holiday party from 5:30-8pm. It is also the time where I hand out money just in time for some late season shopping.
Please let me know if you plan on attending to pick up your $$ so I bring the right amount.
Onto the games:
My semifinal game was against fellow 17 year veteran of the league, John. He was the last Hardi standing after both sons were knocked out in the quarterfinal round. I got things started off properly Thursday night with a solid 16 point effort from the Arizona defense. Then the scoring dried up once Sunday's action started. During the 1pm games, I had 5 players going while John had just 3 players. The top scoring player of those 8 was Arian Foster for me who mustered just 10 points. The door was wide open for John during the 4pm games with Megatron going. Unfortunately the drought continued as Calvin and the Vikings D combined for a paltry 6 points and the left everything up to the Sunday night game for John to stay in it. He had his two Eagles going while I had DeMarco Murray. The Cowboys won and Murray outscored the two Eagles 20-17 and the game was over. Jay Cutler added 17 points on MNF to wrap things up. I move on to my 7th Championship Game (4-2 previously).
Final Score: Escaped Lunatics 77 The Situation 47
In the other half of the bracket, the was even less (or is it fewer?)combined points scored. Jason II/Ike took on Mike in a competitive, albeit low scoring affair. Things started poorly for Mike as Rashad Jennings re-injured his ankle after one carry. MCF couldn't take advantage as Isaiah Crowell struggled along with the entire Browns teams, scratching out just a single point. Luckily for both, their QBs were their teams strength all season long, but Sunday was not their best effort. Aaron Rodgers had his worst game as a professional at Buffalo finishing with just 9 fantasy points. Andrew Luck wasn't much better, but just enough better tallying 17 points. The game stayed close as MCF got 14 from the Giants defense, but Mike countered with a huge 15 point effort from Connor Barth. MCF needed at least 15 points from their kicker, Dan Bailey, to keep the game going, but he only chipped in 9 points. Game over. Mike moves on to his second Championship Game (0-1 previously).
Final Score: Bookoo Barbarians 59 Myra's College Fund 50
SUPER BOWL 17
#1 Escaped Lunatics (Jason) 11-3 vs. #2 Bookoo Barbarians (Mike) 10-4
3rd place consolation game:
#3 Myra's College Fund (Jason II/Ike) vs. #4 The Situation (John)
In the other games from Week 15:
Luke took 5th place by beating his brother behind 30 from Drew Brees 77-50
Nate earned 7th place over Matt with 25 from ODB 80-73
Ben finished in 9th place by beating Alex with 25 from Dez Bryant 81-60
Jody claimed 11th place over Adam with an 18 point effort from Big Ben 60-52
TOILET BOWL CHAMPIONSHIP
Nick B destroyed Nick G relegating him officially to draft board dunce duties for draft night next year with 22 each from Tom Brady and the Bengals D.
Final Score: The Knacks 85 Lollipop Kids 49
So that's it...see everyone Thursday!!!

FCNPFFL: Playoffs Week 1
The beginning of what I had assumed was going to be the best and highest scoring postseason in our 17 year history got started with a whimper. Even with a midweek trade to help bolster the rosters there was still a lack of scoring overall.
Neither of the quarterfinal games held too much drama even though one of the games was tied heading into MNF.
Waivers will still be ran late Wednesday night.
The FCNP Holiday Party is scheduled for NEXT Thursday 11/18!!! I will see everyone there if you want money...Luke bring me $50!!!!!!
Onto the games:
In our #4 vs. #5 seed game, with the winner facing me in Week 15 we had a Hardi civil war. This one wasn't close as papa John (can't believe I've never used that) took a quick 11-0 lead over Luke on Thursday night and never looked back. He got 25 from Kyle Orton, 16 from Megatron, 13 from the Vikings D and 11 from Randy Bullock. Luke meanwhile saw Drew Brees suck it up with just 14 points and saw Alf return to Melmac without scoring a single point. Justin Forsett and Mason Crosby did chip in 13 points apiece, but yet another 0 from Brandon LaFell and a measly 2 points from Antonio Gates just didn't get it done. Father owns bragging rights for another year.
Final Score: The Situation 92 Deathtongue 59
The other half of the bracket, with the winner getting to take on Mike saw #3 seed Jason II/Ike take on yet another Hardi in #6 seed Joel. On paper this game was close until midway through the MNF game, but in reality this game was over Sunday night. MCF was led by newly acquired Joique Bell (brother not helping brother) with 23 on Sunday and 10 from Dan Bailey. For Luke he had gotten 16 from his two Chicago Bears on Thursday, but lost Brandon Marshall for the season midway through that game. With both QBs left to play, Luke needed a heroic effort from Philip Rivers to stay close, but he only got 12 points leaving this game tied going into Monday. MCF had MVP candidate Aaron Rodgers left to play while Joel had the Packers D. Rodgers scored 34, the Packers D LOST 4 points. Yikes.
Final Score: Myra's College Fund 86 Nikachu 48
So the Super Bowl Bracket looks like this:
#1 Escaped Lunatics 10-3 (Jason) vs. #4 The Situation 10-4 (John)
winner plays
#2 Bookoo Barbarians 9-4 (Mike) vs. #3 Myra's College Fund 10-4 (Jason II/Ike)
Chalk has held and it should prove for some good semifinal action.
As for the Purgatory Bracket:
Nate took advantage of Peyton Manning's worst game as a Denver Bronco as he blasted Ben. Nate got 27 from Matthew Stafford and 14 from The ODB while Ben got just 6 points from Manning, but 23 from CJ Anderson who did all the heavy lifting for Denver.
Final Score: The Bounchers 83 The Magic Wands 57
Matt and Alex played what would've been a playoff classic if it was for a championship as Matt rallied from waaaaaay back behind 35 points from Matt Ryan late Monday night to offset 26 from AJ Green.
Final Score: Rainbows & Puppies 75 The Worthless Peons 69
So the Purgatory Brackets looks like this:
#10 The Bounchers 6-8 (Nate) vs. #6 Rainbows & Puppies 6-8 (Matt) with the winner claiming 7th
#7 The Magic Wands 7-7 (Ben) vs. #8 The Worthless Peons 7-7 (Alex) with the winner claiming 9th
And then there is the Toilet Bowl Bracket:
Our highest and lowest scoring games of the week were found here.
Adam took out some frustrations on Nick B (who could've also topped 100 points) by leading all teams in scoring. He got 37 from Cam, 23 from Julio, 21 from Lacy, 13 from Mychael Rivera and 10 from the Pats D. Nick B did well himself with 39 from Le'Veon Bell and 26 from Tom Brady.
Final Score: Biggums' 'Basers 108 The Knacks 84
The last game was low scoring, but at least it was close. Jody got 34 of his 54 points from Big Ben while Nick G got 33 of his 52 points from Julian Edelman and Colin Kaepernick. Jody avoids draft board duty for next year as it will fall to Nick G by default.
Final Score: DoggNutz 54 Lollipop Kids 52
The Toilet Bowl Bracket looks like this:
#13 Lollipop Kids 3-11 (Nick G) vs. #11 The Knacks 4-10 (Nick B) for last place
#14 Biggums' 'Basers 4-10 (Adam) vs. #12 DoggNutz 5-9 (Jody) with the winner claiming 11th

FCNP: Week 13 Results
There was no chance that Week 13 of 2014 could match the level of drama that 2013 brought us. There just wasn't enough up for grabs with one week to play. I don't think we'll ever see a MNF game that held so much at stake than that fateful game from last year. Thank heavens we weren't forced to watch the 'football' game that took place last night. When you are seeing references that read 'The last time .... happened was in 1953' repeatedly you know something weird has happened.
Anyways, another successful regular season has concluded (one of our best yet for overall balance and scoring) and I thank everyone for giving it a full effort.
Waivers continue into the playoffs and will be ran late Wednesday night.
Let's see how this season wrapped up:
I controlled my own destiny to lock up the league regular season title and #1 overall seed, but my team didn't make it easy. After a lackluster performance by newly acquired QB Tony Romo on Thanksgiving I left the door open for Adam to pull the upset. He get 18 from Julio Jones, 16 from Cam Newton and 10 each from Eddie Lacy and Greg the Leg, but still trailed by 7 going in MNF thanks to 29 from my RB tandem and 13 from Justin Tucker. He only got 6 from Chris Ivory on Monday and came up one point short.
Final Score: Escaped Lunatics 74 Biggums' 'Basers 73
I didn't have to sweat things out on Monday because Alex had already defeated Jason II/Ike on Sunday behind 22 points each from Mark Sanchez and Kenny Stills. MCF did get 28 from Aaron Rodgers in a losing effort. They have to settle for the #3 overall seed (thanks to overall points scored) while Alex concludes one of, if not his best seasons ever in this league.
Final Score: The Worthless Peons 78 Myra's College Fund 60
John didn't have too much to play for other than seeding as he was already locked into playing in Week 14 in the playoffs, but it didn't stop him from putting up big numbers against Nick B. With 21 from Megatron, 16 from Drew Stanton, 12 each from Dan Herron and Cody Parkey, John goes into the playoffs with a full head of steam. Oh, Nick B, you had such a good team wasted by not updating your lineup. With 25 from Le'Veon Bell and 20 from Tom Brady, Nick B had a good week, but by leaving his two Colts on the bench against the lowly Redskins he left 33 potential extra points on the bench...again. This should've been a playoff team for The Knacks.
Final Score: The Situation 96 The Knacks 69
Thanks to some shrewd trading I have to think that Mike is our clubhouse favorite to win a title this season. His team continued to dominated scoring the most points in the league for the 3rd time this season. He knocked Ben right out of the playoffs with a 134 point explosion. 82 of those points came from Andrew Luck and the Rams D while newly (you're welcome) acquired RB Rashad Jennings posted 21 to boot. Ben had a great season and might be the best team to not make the playoffs in our 17 year history (3rd in the league in scoring 37 points more than 4th and 119 more points than our lowest scoring playoff team!!!). He got 38 from Tre Mason and 23 from CJ Anderson...but oh the irony of a zero RB strategy that his non-RB's were the ones that let him down when it mattered most. Peyton Manning had a pedestrian 14 points and his WR/TE combo (w/o injured Julius Thomas) mustered just 16 points. Mike now needed a loss by Joel to wrap up the Critter Corner Division.
Final Score: Bookoo Barbarians 134 The Magic Wands 92
Joel took on Matt who really was playing just to avoid the Toilet Bowl with a division title on the line. Joel got all risky benching his starting QB in Philip Rivers for Josh McCown who had the perceived better matchup. That backfired in a big way. Rivers blew up for 31 points while McCown struggled to just 8 points. The Bills D did score 21 points and Antonio Brown hauled in 19 for Nikachu to try and offset that error. Matt got a surprising 33 points from DeAndre Hopkins and 16 from Alshon Jeffery to help offset his measly 2 points total from his RBs. Down 12, Matt still had 2 players playing Sunday night while Joel had just one. The Broncos D posted 15 points and Santos booted in 4 points while Joel got just 2 points from Travis Kelce. Matt pulls the upset costing Joel a division title, bye week and $$. Mike smiles.
Final Score: Rainbows & Puppies 77 Nikachu 72
I gave away the final playoff spot results earlier with my #RIPBeth spoiler alert commentary above, but Luke found his way into the big dance with a resounding victory over Jody, coupled with the loss by Ben. Luke got 36 from Drew Brees, 20 from a rejuvenated Seahawks D and 12 from Mason Crosby. Jody got 29 from Big Ben in a losing effort, sending him to another Toilet Bowl. Since Luke beat his brother Joel in their only meeting, Luke gets the #5 seed while Joel drops all the way to the #6 seed after going into the week looking at a possible BYE, brutal.
Final Score: Deathtongue 93 DoggNutz 51
Our last game of the regular season involved two non-playoff teams in Nick G and Nate. The Bounchers finished the season on fire with a 112 point effort behind 25 from Matt Stafford, 20 from Keenan Allen, 19 from LeSean McCoy, 14 from Matt Bryant, 11 each from Lamar Miller and the Texans D and a partridge in a pear tree. Nick got 14 each from Kendall Wright and the Colts D in the loss.
Final Score: The Bounchers 112 Lollipop Kids 56
Final Regular Season Standings:
#1 Seed - Escaped Lunatics 10-3 (Back Wall Champion)
#2 Seed - Bookoo Barbarians 9-4 (Critter Corner Champion)
#3 Seed - Myra's College Fund 9-4 (1063 points, split season series w/ Situation)
#4 Seed - The Situation 9-4 (987 points)
#5 Seed - Deathtongue 8-5 (H2H win over Nikachu)
#6 Seed - Nikachu 8-5
---------------------------------------
#7 Seed - Magic Wands 7-6 (1106 points)
#8 Seed - Worthless Peons 7-6 (862 points)
#9 Seed - Rainbows & Puppies 5-8 (H2H win over Bounchers)
#10 Seed-The Bounchers 5-8
---------------------------------------
#11 Seed-The Knacks 4-9 (886 points)
#12 Seed-DoggNutz 4-9 (874 points)
#13 Seed-Lollipop Kids 3-10 (Swept Biggums')
#14 Seed-Biggums' 'Basers 3-10
Playoffs:
Super Bowl
#3 Seed Jason II/Ike vs. #6 Seed Joel (Winner Plays #2 Seed Mike)
#4 Seed John vs. #5 Seed Luke (Winner Plays #1 Seed Jason)
Purgatory Bowl
#7 Seed Ben vs. #10 Seed Nate
#8 Seed Alex vs. #9 Seed Matt
Toilet Bowl
#11 Seed Nick B vs. #14 Seed Adam
#12 Seed Jody vs. #13 Seed Nick G
With Adam missing the playoffs his streak of 6 straight years in ends and now Joel has the current longest streak at 3 years. He also goes from #1 Seed and Super Bowl champion in 2013 to #14 seed in 2014.
For the sixth straight year the FCNPFFL will have 3 or more different playoff teams than the previous year.
Both Mike (89.0) and I (89.6) eclipsed the reigning points per game scoring record held by John at 87.0 (set in 2010)
The last two #1 seeds have won the Super Bowl after it not happening ever before (at least since 2000)
In the 15 years of record keeping (98-99 lost in the great move from JMU in 2000) our 2014 playoff participants (in times made the playoffs; previous Super Bowl championships)
Jason 10;4
Mike 5;0
Ike 5;1
John 3;0
Joel 3;0 (in 3 years of participation)
Luke 7;0
So the Hardi clan has all 3 of their members in the playoffs, but they have combined for 10 previous playoff appearances without a trophy. With 50% of the field can they finally bring home a title after 37 combined years of playing???
Ike's only title came against me in 2004
I won the title in 2002, 2007, 2009 and 2011 while losing in 1998 and 2004
John lost his only Super Bowl appearance in 2010
Mike lost his only Super Bowl appearance in 2005
Luke and Joel have never played in a Super Bowl
As for draft positions and making the playoffs:
Our 3rd, 4th, 9th, 10th, 13th and 14th positions made the playoffs
Draft picks 1-7 went 42-49; Draft picks 8-14 went 49-42
Critter Corner went 9-8 against the Back Wall Division
Good luck to all those in the playoffs!
Anyways, another successful regular season has concluded (one of our best yet for overall balance and scoring) and I thank everyone for giving it a full effort.
Waivers continue into the playoffs and will be ran late Wednesday night.

FCNPFFL: Week 12 Results
Last week!!!! While most of the playoffs spots have been locked up, seeding has not. There is still a lot to play for throughout the league.
Best news of all...NO BYE WEEKS!!!!
Reminder to everyone as this is Thanksgiving week...there are 3 THURSDAY GAMES with the first one starting around noon so make sure to get your lineups set. I will be available for last minute kicker/defenses switches as always, if needed.
Waivers will be ran as normal late Wednesday night, so don't sleep in too late on turkey day and forget to switch in your waiver picks if need be.
Onto the games:
With everything on the line for me this week (win streak, division and regular season league title) my team came out dead flat against Jason II/Ike. The 49ers led me in scoring with just 14 points as my six skill position players mustered just one touchdown. As for Jason II/Ike, they scored a TD about 8 seconds into Sunday from the Philly D and then got 5 more TDs from their six skill positions. Aaron Rodgers scored 21, Isaiah Crowell added 20 and this game was over before it got started. We now have a tie atop the Back Wall Division at 9-3.
Final Score: Myra's College Fund 86 Escaped Lunatics 67
John bounced back with a narrow win over Adam this week behind 20 from newly acquired Kyle Orton (RGIII would've scored him just 4 and a loss), 19 from Cody Parkey, 16 from Ryan Mathews and 14 from the Chargers D. Adam had a good 2-man showing with 24 each from Zach Mettenberger and Eddie Lacy as well as 11 from the Patriots D, but just 14 more from his other 5 players.
Final Score: The Situation 79 Biggums' 'Basers 73
In our first of two current playoff teams vs. teams trying to get in, Luke and Mike hooked up in a high scoring affair. Mike had his chance to lock down a division title as well as keep his win streak in tact and did everything he could to do so. Unfortunately Bill Belichick, a sleepy Jonas Gray and a porous Saints D hindered his chances greatly. Andrew Luck led Mike with 20, Jamaal Charles stayed hot with 16 and Jimmy Graham and the Rams D add 15 points apiece. Jonas Gray who was late to practice didn't touch the ball or see the field for the Patriots and plummeted back to Earth with 0 points. Through Sunday Luke had nothing going on with 16 from the Seahawks D and 14 from Jeremy Hill, but Monday night got him 63 points from Drew Brees and Justin Forsett!! Not only did he beat Mike, keep his playoff hopes alive, but also notched $10 for top scoring team of the week.
Final Score: Deathtongue 107 Bookoo Barbarians 83
Our second game of 'in vs. out' saw Joel who had the opportunity to tie Mike up for first in the Critter Corner Division took on Alex who was just hoping to sneak into the 6th and final playoff spot. With 26 from the Bills stout D, 21 from Matt Forte, 18 from Josh McCown and 15 from Anquan Boldin, Joel did his part. Alex got 20 from a rejuvenated Bears D and 17 from Mark Sanchez but no TDs from his RBs or WRs cost him and probably ended his season.
Final Score: Nikachu 90 The Worthless Peons 74
Ben needed a win over Nate to stay in the playoffs with Luke's win. Now that he has two starting RBs his team is rounding into shape at the right time and even without Julius Thomas, Ben posted a win with the 2nd highest scoring team of the week. Peyton Manning had 29, CJ Anderson tacked on 23, Dez Bryant hauled in 17 and Gostkowski kicked in 11 additional points. Nate had a very good week as well with 21 from rookie superstar Odell Beckham, 19 from LeSean McCoy (too little too late department) and 13 from Matt Stafford.
Final Score: The Magic Wands 93 The Bounchers 81
Our last two games involved four teams already eliminated from playoff contention:
Jody beat up a scuffling Matt behind 23 from Demaryius Thomas and 19 from Alex Smith. Matt got 14 from Brian Hoyer, but an ugly -5 from the Broncos D.
Final Score: DoggNutz 66 Rainbows & Puppies 38
In the battle of the Nick's...it was G over B thanks to Nick B leaving in 2 BYE week players and an injured Victor Cruz. It's a shame because Nick B has so much talent on his roster too. Just replacing his 3 players with the 3 on the bench would've vaulted Nick B up to 97 points for the week. Instead Nick G earns a win with 18 from the Colts D and 16 from Kaepernick.
Final Score: The Lollipop Kids 67 The Knacks 56
Standings after Week 12:
#1 Seed - Escaped Lunatics 9-3 (Split season series w/ Myra's has 88 point lead)
#2 Seed - Nikachu 8-4 (Won vs. Bookoo in Week 2)
#3 Seed - Myra's College Fund 9-3
#4 Seed - Bookoo Barbarians 8-4 (1023 points)
#5 Seed - The Situation 8-4 (891 points)
#6 Seed - The Magic Wands 7-5 (Split series w/ Deathtongue; 1014 points)
------------------------------------------------
#7 Seed - Deathtongue 7-5 (952 points)
------------------------------------------------
#8 Seed - The Worthless Peons 6-6 (Can't catch Wands in points w/ only 784 YTD)
#9 Seed - The Bounchers 4-8 (847 points)
#10 Seed- DoggNutz 4-8 (823 points)
------------------------------------------------
#11 Seed- The Knacks 4-8 (817 points)
#12 Seed- Rainbows & Puppies 4-8 (767 points)
#13 Seed- Lollipop Kids 3-9 (Swept Biggums')
#14 Seed- Biggums' 'Basers 3-9
Schedule for Week 13...with scenarios!!!
Jason 9-3 vs. Adam 3-9 (Win and clinch #1 seed, lose and need loss by Jason II to clinch)
Jason/Ike 9-3 vs. Alex 6-6 (Win and outscore me by 89 points or win w/ my loss to clinch #1 seed)
Joel 8-4 vs. Matt 4-8 (Joel- Win and clinch division, lose and well lots of things)
Mike 8-4 vs. Ben 7-5 (Game of the Week)...Mike win and loss by Joel to clinch division; Ben win to clinch playoff spot, win with loss by Joel and 3 way tie comes down to points scored for division title and bye
John 8-4 vs. Nick B 4-8 (John basically playing for seeding at this point)
Luke 7-5 vs. Jody 4-8 (Luke needs a win and a lost by Ben to get in)
Nate 4-8 vs. Nick G 3-9 (Toilet Bowl seeding/participation only)
It looks like Ben has the most interesting week ahead as he could finish anywhere from 2nd to 7th...Bye week to no playoffs. The Critter Corner division has the chance to get really fun unless Joel wants to be a party pooper and just win. Back Wall is pretty cut and dry as I still control my fate because of the 88 points lead...which of course is always a chance to overcome, but still slim.
If anyone sees something with the scenarios that I am missing please let me know. Good luck to everyone and have a Happy Thanksgiving!!! Safe travels if you are out and about. I should have FCNP Holiday party info soon enough. Luke you still owe me $50 with you $10 prize this week.

FCNPFFL: Week 11 Results
With only two weeks remaining, teams have clinched a playoff spot while other have been eliminated. That is to be expected. It doesn't change the excitement of the final playoff push, though. There are still seeding issues to hash out and it appears a big battle for the last playoff spot as always. As a reminder, Nate backed in to the playoffs last year after losing in Week 13 when there was not one, but TWO ties that allowed him to keep the 6th spot and he wound up playing in the Super Bowl.
You have to be in it, to win it.
HOORAY FOR FINAL BYE WEEK!!!!
BYE WEEKS FOR WEEK 12: PITTSBURGH and CAROLINA
Waivers will be ran late Wednesday night as is the norm.
Onto the games:
I looked to run my winning streak to 8 against Nick G who had won once since the opening week of the season. On paper it appeared a mismatch and in reality it was just that. I was led by Jay Cutler who posted 28, the Cardinals D with 16, Alfred Blue with 15 and Jordy Nelson with 13. Nick G got 15 from Kaepernick in the loss.
Final Score: Escaped Lunatics 85 Lollipop Kids 38
The other Jason/Ike needed a win to keep pace before our big Week 12 battle, but he was up against a desperate Luke who was just trying to stay in the playoff hunt. At 6-4 Luke was currently on the outside looking in and although he got a decent performance with 16 from Brees, 15 from Jeremy Hill and 11 from Alf, he was no match this week. With 32 from Aaron Rodgers and 31 from Mike Evans, MCF rolled to their 8th win of the season. Emanuel Sanders scored 12 before leaving with a nasty hit to the head/shoulders as well.
Final Score: Myra's College Fund 95 Deathtongue 62
At 5-5, Alex was also in dire need of a win to keep his fledgling playoff hopes alive. He went up against John who still had his eyes on a division crown and this was a classic game. John got 16 from a terrible RGIII, 13 from the Dolphins D and 12 from Maclin, but lost Ahmad Bradshaw for the season with a broken leg/ankle, just as he was getting healthier with the return of Ryan Mathews who scored 7. Alex got 19 from Mark Sanchez, 14 from AJ Green, 12 from Marshawn Lynch and 11 from the Bears D to help offset starting an injured Reggie Bush. He still trailed by 2 points with just Justin Hunter left to play on MNF. Hunter hauled in 48 yards receiving for 3 points and a Peons victory.
Final Score: The Worthless Peons 61 The Situation 60
As hot as I have been in my division, the case could be made that Mike has been even more ablaze in the Critter Corner Division. He was looking to run his win streak to six games against Nate. Nate had as many players score in double figures (1) as he did score negative (1). That's not good. Not that it would have mattered because Mike crushed it this week, leading the league in scoring and more than doubling Nate's score. Getting 26 from Jamaal Charles and 23 from Andrew Luck is to be expected, but 43!!!??!!! from Jonas Gray was just icing on the cake. That's 92 points from those 3 players which would have been good enough for second best scoring total of the week alone. Mike stays a game back of me for #1 overall seed and keeps the pressure on Joel to stay one game back in their division.
Final Score: Bookoo Barbarians 118 The Bounchers 55
Joel took on Jody who (along with Megan who did most of the work) welcomed daughter #2 into the world on Sunday!!!! Congrats to the Fellows family!!! As for the game, Joel didn't ease up on Jody as he rolled through him behind 18 from Brandon Marshall, 14 from Matt Forte, 13 from Philip Rivers and 12 from Antonio Brown. Jody got 13 from Big Ben, 11 each from Roddy White and Phil Dawson and a beautiful baby daughter so he still wins.
Final Score: Nikachu 76 DoggNutz 45
At 6-4 Ben was currently in the playoffs, but he still needed to win to keep it that way. He battled Matt who has been struggling this season. Ben added another Bronco to his roster and then Denver went out and played terribly. Peyton had 21, but Julius Thomas was lost to injury while new addition CJ Anderson mustered just 7 points. Matt took advantage with 17 from Matty Ice and 15 from Alshon Jeffery to win this low scoring affair.
Final Score: Rainbows & Puppies 51 The Magic Wands 44
In our last game of the week, Adam squeaked by injury riddled Nick B. Cam Newton put up 23, Eddie Lacy posted 21 and Jordan Matthews hauled in 13 for the 'Basers. Nick, down two players and getting a 0 from a third in Garcon made a valiant effort on Monday night as he started down 32 points with just Le'Veon Bell left to play. Bell ran roughshod over the Titans and scored 27 points, but Nick B fell just short.
Final Score: Biggums' 'Basers 73 The Knacks 68
Standings after Week 11:
#1 Seed) Escaped Lunatics 9-2 (Back Wall Division Leader)
#2 Seed) Bookoo Barbarians 8-3 (Critter Corner Division Leader)
#3 Seed) Myra's College Fund 8-3
#4 Seed) Nikachu 7-4 (907 points, no head to head vs. Situation)

#6 Seed) The Magic Wands 6-5 (921 points in a 3 way tie)

#10 Seed) The Knacks 4-7 (761 points in a 3 way tie)
#11 Seed) Rainbows & Puppies 4-7 (729 points in a 3 way tie)
#12 Seed) DoggNutz 3-8 (757 points, no head to head vs. Biggums')
#13 Seed) Biggums' 'Basers 3-8 (671 points, no head to head vs. DoggNutz)
#14 Seed) Lollipop Kids 2-9
Schedule for Week 12:
Jason 9-2 vs. Jason/Ike 8-3 (Game of the Week)
Mike 8-3 vs. Luke 6-5
Joel 7-4 vs. Alex 6-5
John 7-4 vs. Adam 3-8
Ben 6-5 vs. Nate 4-7
Nick B 4-7 vs. Nick G 2-9
Matt 4-7 vs. Jody 3-8
Everything that wasn't in Week 11 is in Week 12 as Luke and Alex are playing for their season while the Jason's wage war.
You have to be in it, to win it.

FCNPFFL: Week 10 Results
I'm sure I use this line every year but....
....and down the stretch they go!!
Ten weeks in the books, only 3 weeks left to get into the big dance. While we have our first official eliminated teams, I do believe there are at least six teams that can claim the title of league favorite to win it all and that's a testament to this league.
I do appreciate (almost) everyone continuing to make moves and set your best possible lineup each week. We all have good years and bad years, but playing it out hard all the way is a good thing.
WEEK 11 BYE WEEKS: BALTIMORE, DALLAS, JACKSONVILLE, NY JETS
Waivers will be done as normal
By the way, remind me to enact a new rule next year about the official drop dead time for picking up a kicker/defense. I believe I had stated midnight on Saturday in the past, but I think I will make it official next year. I have no problems making changes and it has become easier with smart phones, but there may be a time that I am unavailable on Sunday and I don't want to cause any problems in the league by making a retroactive move after a game has started because I missed an email/tweet/text.
Okay onto the games:
My team had as close to a 'bye week' as any fantasy team has ever had this week as I took on the depleted squad owned by Nick B. Between injuries and bye weeks, Nick B only started 3 of his 8 players. He tied the second worst scoring week in this leagues history with just 14 points (we had one zero for a team who fielded an illegal roster once). I got 28 from Jordy Nelson and 27 from the Cardinal D as I skated to my seventh win in a row without breaking a sweat.
Final Score: Escaped Lunatics 86 The Knacks 14
Since I moved to 8-2 John needed a win against Jody who has been playing lights out behind Big Ben with no wins to show for it. After getting 12 TD passes and going 0-2, Jody tried a new method to victory by having Big Ben throw for just one TD (albeit a bonus 80 yard TD). He did get 23 points from his QB, 16 from Denard Robinson, 13 from the Cowboys D and 10 each from Roddy White and Phil Dawson. John was looking to fill his hole at QB after Nick Foles went down and Mick Vick (who once carried John many a victory in the past) did quite nicely with 21 points. Megatron returned just in time to post 13 points, but John still trailed by 27 with just Jeremy Maclin and Cody Parkey to play on MNF. They could only scratch together 11 points and Jody got a much deserved victory while John falls a game back in the Back Wall Division.
Final Score: DoggNutz 78 The Situation 62
After losing last week to fall a game out the Jason II/Ike squad took Adam behind the woodshed this week. Not only did they lead the league in scoring this week, but they also posted a probable top five scoring week all time with 138 points (#3 all time is 141)!!! Aaron Rodgers scored 47 points in just over one half of playing, and the Eagles defense continued to be stellar with 31 points. They also got 16 from Emanuel Sanders and 14 each from Mike Evans and Frank Gore. Adam got 21 from Eddie Lacy, 18 from Cam Newton and 10 from Ben Tate, but go -7 from the Panthers D (a 38 point MNF defense swing!!).
Final Score: Myra's College Fund 138 Biggums' 'Basers 56
In the Critter Corner Division, Mike looked to stay red hot against Matt who needed a win just to keep any playoff hopes alive. Instead he nearly got doubled up as Mike won his fifth straight game to move to 7-3. Mike was led by Tony Romo who overcame busted ribs to score 28 points and rookie sensation Martavus Bryant added 21 points. Jimmy Graham continued to roll with 17 points (didn't Matt trade him away for magic beans earlier this season?) and Jamaal Charles tacked on 16 just for good measure. Matt did get 15 from Matty Ice, but it is Matt who is now on ice after this loss.
Final Score: Bookoo Barbarians 102 Rainbows & Puppies 52
Now the pressure was on Luke to keep pace with Mike to stay atop the Critter Corner Division. He had a tough test ahead again Ben and both teams came out swinging. There was a combined 224 points scored in this game and 10/16 players hit double digits. Luke was led by Justin Forsett with 23 points, but also got 22 from Drew Brees, 14 from Mason Crosby, 12 from Brandin 'Too Many' Cooks and 10 from Mychael Rivera. That proved to be nowhere near enough, though, as Ben got 39 from Peyton Manning, 28 from Dez Bryant, 16 from Julius Thomas, 15 from Terrance West and 12 from the Chiefs D...what happens when a 0 RB theory team, suddenly finds a RB??? Even though Ben might have scored a top 10 all time score in FCNPFFL history, he still lost out on $10 thanks to that 31 point effort by the Eagles D. I'm sure he'll take the win to match Luke at 6-4 though.
Final Score: The Magic Wands 131 Deathtongue 93
So two Hardi's had lost this week and Nate was trying to make it a clean sweep against Joel. Both teams needed this win to keep pace in the hunt for the playoffs. Matt Stafford was the games high scorer with 21 points for Nate, but he also had 3 players score 2 or fewer points. Joel got 16 from Kyle Orton, 13 each from Mark Ingram and Brandon Marshall and 11 from the Bills D to eke out a lone victory for the Hardi clan this week and keep him a game back in the Critter Corner Division at 6-4.
Final Score: Niachu 67 The Bounchers 54
Alex was hoping to keep his playoff chances alive with a victory over Nick G who was hoping to piece together his second win in a row in a lost season. With 39 points and 4 TDs from Marshawn Lynce and 24 from fill-in Mark Sanchez, this game was never really in doubt as Alex climbed back to .500 with the win. Nick G did get 14 from Kaepernick and 12 from Darren Sproles in a losing effort.
Final Score: The Worthless Peons 88 Lollipop Kids 49
Standings after Week 10:
1) Escaped Lunatics 8-2 (Back Wall Division Leader)
2) Bookoo Barbarians 7-3 (Critter Corner Division Leader)
3) Myra's College Fund 7-3 (Tied season series w/ Situation, owns points lead)
4) The Situation 7-3 (Trails Myra's by 70 points)
5) The Magic Wands 6-4 (877 points in a 3 way tie)
6) Nikachu 6-4 (831 points in a 3 way tie)

12) DoggNutz 3-7
13) Lollipop Kids 2-8 (Both victories against Biggums')
14) Biggums' 'Basers 2-8
Schedule for Week 11:
Jason 8-2 vs. Nick G 2-8
Mike 7-3 vs. Nate 4-6
Jason Jr./Ike 7-3 vs. Luke 6-4 (Game of the Week)
John 7-3 vs. Alex 5-5
Ben 6-4 vs. Matt 3-7
Joel 6-4 vs. Jody 3-7
Nick B 4-6 vs. Adam 2-8
So no current playoff teams play each other. Who will falter?

FCNPFFL: Week 9 Results
And then it was November.
The calendar has turned and the focus is the stretch run now. Four weeks remain and for many teams that means only a 4-0 run will get you in. Keep working the waiver wire and keep offering up the trades.
Scoring was definitely down as none of the 14 teams hit triple digits, just a week after half the league did. There was a lot of talent off this week, but they should be nice and rested for a very competitive upcoming Week 10. As for this week, another six teams get to rest up and let those injuries heal (Arian Foster I am looking at you!!)
BYE WEEKS FOR WEEK 10: INDIANAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, NEW ENGLAND, SAN DIEGO, WASHINGTON and HOUSTON
Waivers will be run late Wednesday night as always.
Enough about the upcoming Week 10, let's look back at Week 9:
I had a couple of positive streaks on the line against Alex who was looking to break a negative streak of his own. With five wins in a row and three consecutive top scoring weeks, it was only a matter of time until my team cooled off. Luckily for me though, Arian Foster did his damage long before he left with an injury leading me with 21 points. Andy Dalton added 18 and Mohammad Sanu and the 49ers D added 12 each to stake me to a good sized lead. Alex looking to end his three game losing streak and sweep the season series got 20 from Mike Glennon and a monster effort from Marshawn Lynch with 23 to keep the score close, but he fell just short.
Final Score: Escaped Lunatics 78 Worthless Peons 70
My top scoring streak ended and the new top dog came from the game between Jody and Nate. Jody once again got a six TD day from Big Ben good for 43 points (93 in two weeks!!!), 15 from Denard Robinson and 10 from the Cowboys D, but just like last week, he needed some more help. Nate had 7 of his 8 players reach double figures, led by 25 from Ryan Fitzpatrick who filled in quite nicely for Matt Stafford. The other six double figure players scored between 10-14 points. Nate earns $10 for his troubles and keeps his playoff hopes alive.
Final Score: The Bounchers 97 DoggNutz 82
Our 'Game of the Week' turned out to be anything but between John and Jason II/Ike. With both teams sitting at 6-2, the winner would stay tied with me for top spot in the league while the loser would have a small hill to climb to get back into the divisional race. Jason II/Ike were without Aaron Rodgers, but still got a healthy 23 points from Carson Palmer. Unfortunately his other seven players mustered just 18 total points. John saw the best of his Eagles and the worst as he got 49 points from Foles, Maclin and Parkey, but he also saw Foles go down for the season with a broken clavicle. He was able to offset a record tying -8 performance by the beat up Chargers D to move to 7-2.
Final Score: The Situation 61 Myra's College Fund 41
While John and I have win streaks going, Mike look to keep pace with his fourth win in a row against the ever surprising Nick B. Without Gio Bernard and Victor Cruz this week, Nick B still posted a respectable score behind 31 from from Tom Brady, 19 from Vinatieri and 10 from Le'Veon Bell. He would've beaten some teams, but not Mike who got 33 from Andrew Luck, 14 from Martavis Bryant, 13 from Jamaal Charles, 11 from Jimmy Graham and 10 from the Browns D. That's win #4 in a row for a very strong Barbarians squad.
Final Score: Bookoo Barbarians 93 The Knacks 72
Ben needed a win against Joel in order to tie him in the standings and open the door for a host of others, including himself, to make the playoffs. Behind 27 from Peyton Manning, 14 from Gostkowski and 10 from the Chiefs D, that's exactly what he got. Joel had a great two headed monster this week with 22 from Mark Ingram and 21 from Antonio Brown, but Philip Rivers was shut down scoring just a single point and his choice of the Redskins D netted him a cool -2 points.
Final Score: The Magic Wands 79 Nikachu 59
Matt was another team in dire need of a win against a team with a better record this week as he faced Luke. Matt got 21 from Brian Hoyer, 17 from Andre Ellington and 13 from DeAndre Hopkins, but leaving the Broncos D in against the Patriots proved fatal as they cost him 5 points. Luke took advantage with 22 from Alf, 21 from Drew Brees and a positive 13 points from his defense, the Seahawks. Still Matt had a chance needing 14 from Trent Richardson, but, c'mon...
Final Score: Deathtongue 67 Rainbows & Puppies 57
Last and for the first time in a while...actually least, Nick G and Adam faced off. The top scoring player of this game netted just 14 points which is all you really need to know about these two teams and their year long struggles. Adam did get 14 from Cam Newton, but his other 7 players fell flat with just 27 more points. Nick G had four players score between 10-12 points to finally break that pesky 7 game losing streak.
Final Score: The Lollipop Kids 56 Biggums' 'Basers 41
Standings after Week 9:
Back Wall Division:
Escaped Lunatics 7-2 (T-1/T-3...holds tiebreaker)

Bookoo Barbarians 6-3 (T-2/T-4,T-5 Lost Week 1 to Deathtongue...rematch coming)
The Magic Wands 5-4 (T-6 holds tiebreaker with season series sweep over Nikachu)
Nikachu 5-4 (T-6 was swept by Wands)
The Bounchers 4-5
Rainbows & Puppies 3-6
DoggNutz 2-7
Schedule for Week 10:

John 7-2 vs. Jody 2-7

Luke 6-3 vs. Ben 5-4 (Game of the Week)
Mike 6-3 vs. Matt 3-6
Alex 4-5 vs. Nick G 2-7
Joel 5-4 vs. Nate 4-5
Not the sexiest of weeks on paper, but who know what can happen to shake up the standings? Which underdog can pull of the upset?

FCNPFFL: Week 8 Results
The theme for this weeks action of football was: 'Are you not entertained?!?' Without having access to all the scoring in this league over the last 17 years I would have to assume that this was the highest scoring week ever (and that includes Jason Jr./Ike leaving Emmanuel Sanders and his 3 TD's on the bench). The league finished with seven teams AT OR OVER 100 points and an average team score of 90.5 points! Kudos to the league for staying on top of their rosters and kudos to the rules in the NFL for not allowing defenses to do anything (except when you're playing Jacksonville)
BYE WEEKS FOR WEEK 9: ATLANTA, BUFFALO, CHICAGO, DETROIT, GREEN BAY and TENNESSEE
Waivers will be ran late Wednesday night as always.
Onto the games:
Another week, another scoring barrage from my team who extended their winning streak to five games. I took on a very game Adam this week who got 22 each from the Vikings D and Sammy Watkins (who really should've had 12 more points if not for rookie showboating). In the end it wasn't enough as I got 34 from Arian Foster, 30 from the Dolphins D, 22 from Jay Cutler and 15 from Justin Tucker. With the game wrapped up, Demarco Murray tacked on 17 points to get me to top scoring team for the 3rd week in a row and 4th overall.
Final Score: Escaped Lunatics 120 Biggums' 'Basers 86
Two of the teams to go triple digits were Nate and John as they put on a show. Behind Matt Stafford and his 27 points, Nate got rolling and when Gronk added 27 of his own, Nate must have been feeling pretty good. Then the Eagles game was played. John rides and dies with his Philly trio (a bit awkward for a Dallas fan I'm sure) and this time they came through with flying colors. Nick Foles, Jeremy Maclin and Cody Parkey combined for 70 points and with 13 from the Patriots D and 12 each from Bennett and Bradshaw, John won a shootout and has gotten to 6-2. Nate becomes one of many hard luck losers on the week.
Final Score: The Situation 115 The Bounchers 104
Another game that featured two triple digit scoring teams was the one between Mike and Jody. This also had a little MNF drama as well. In one of the highest scoring performances ever, Jody got 50!?! points from Big Ben who torched the Colts for 522 yards passing and 6 TDs. He also got 16 from Knile Davis and 10 from Denard Robinson to take a good sized league. Mike countered with 32 from Andrew Luck, 21 from Jamaal Charles and 16 from the Browns D. He needed a big Sunday night from his 3 players and that's what he got. 20 from Randall Cobb, 11 from Mason Crosby and 9 from Jimmy Graham put Mike on top. Jody had a chance with Jordan Reed and the Cowboys D on MNF, but they couldn't get anything going.
Final Score: Bookoo Barbarians 117 DoggNutz 100
Joel became the second member of the Hardi family to hit 100+ as he whooped up on Matt. Thanks to a quartet of 20+ scoring players (Rivers/Ingram 23 each, 21 for Forte and 20 for Antonio Brown), it was smooth sailing to move to 5-3. Matt had a good showing for a normal week, but this was nowhere near normal. He got 22 from Golden Tate and 18 from Matt Ryan, but came up 37 points short.
Final Score: Nikachu 113 Rainbows & Puppies 76
The third member of the Hardi clan, Luke, looked to make it a clean sweep of victories and 100+ points as he took on Ben. Antonio Gates got Luke rolling 15 and the Seahawks D added 14, but it was the SNF combo of Drew Brees and Brandin Cooks that made this a fun game. With Ben leading behind 26 from Peyton Manning and 22 each from Larry Fitzgerald and the Chiefs D it appeared 'no RBs' was going to cruise to victory. But back to the Saints...Brees hit Cooks for a 50 yard, 25 fantasy points touchdown and suddenly Luke was catapulted back into the game. Brees kept throwing and Luke kept scoring. Going into MNF Luke held a one point lead with each team having a Redskins RB and a Cowboys WR going. Ben got the jump with a Dez Bryant TD, but Luke answered with an Alfred Morris long run and subsequent TD as he pulled away late. Ben finishes just 3 points short of being our 8th 100 point scoring team.
Final Score: Deathtongue 113 The Magic Wands 97
Nick B keeps winning despite his lack of moves. He won his 3rd game in a row, this time over Alex who continues his fall from grace as he has now lost 3 in a row. Neither team scored 100 points, but Nick B did get 37 from Tom Brady, 12 from Le'Veon Bell and 10 from Gio Bernard. Alex was led by Teddy Bridgewater who scored 16 points. Unfortunately he had 2 players not even take the field.
Final Score: The Knacks 77 The Worthless Peons 54
And then there was this game. Jason Jr./Ike played against Nick G and the two teams COMBINED for less than 100 points. For shame boys, for shame. It wasn't pretty, but Jason/Ike stayed even with John and I at 6-2 behind 34 from Aaron Rodgers. Nick G got 16 from Ryan Tannehill, but -7 from the Bears woeful D.

A very interesting week as all the playoff contenders play each other and the bottom four teams possibly give us a Toilet Bowl semifinal preview. With six teams on a BYE week and everyone playing an important game, waivers and trades could be a huge factor. I guarantee scoring will be down this week and we'll have a few nail biters.

FCNPFFL: Week 7 Results
Seven weeks in the books and I think it's time to start talking playoffs. {Insert Jim Mora audio clip here} Sure a lot can change over the next six weeks, but it's hard to not start projecting who will be in and who won't. For this league, though, I haven't the faintest idea which six teams will still be standing after Week 13. Going into the week there was a seven way tie for first place. That means that at least one team who was sitting at 4-2, thinking they were in a good position won't even qualify for the postseason. As for the other seven teams, it'll be interesting to see how many can get in with just a half of a season to play.
BYE WEEKS FOR WEEK 8: NEW YORK GIANTS and SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
Waivers will be ran late Wednesday night as is the norm.
Onto the games:
On paper my red hot squad facing the ultra-struggling team owned by Nick G looked to be a mismatch. After Thursday night where Nick G jumped out to a 22-0 lead (20 from Shane Vereen), the game appeared to be much closer. Jordy Nelson got me started with 17 points, DeMarco Murray continued to roll with 18, Jay Cutler added 10 and with a late, meaningless TD on MNF by Arian Foster, I jumped into top scoring team of the week for my third $10 prize of the year. Colin Kaepernick added 17 to the total for Nick G in the losing effort.
Final Score: Escaped Lunatics 87 The Lollipop Kids 61
Nick B continues to defy logic with his team as even without the services of injured Victor Cruz, he not only won this week against Joel, but nearly took home top scoring spot in the league. Behind 25 from Tom Brady, 17 from Pierre Garcon, 16 from Le'Veon Bell and 10 from Adam Vinatieri, The Knacks continue to play good ball while shorthanded. Joel had a good showing too with 20 from Matt Forte, 17 from Philip Rivers, 12 from the Bills D and 10 from Antonio Brown, but came up just short.
Final Score: The Knacks 82 Nikachu 72
Another team looking to creep closer to the pack at 4-3 was Nate who had a tough challenge against Ben and his squad of no RBs. Ben was led by Peyton Manning with 31, but his stats caused Ben's D, the 49ers, to suffer to the tune of -6 points. This opened the door for Nate who was led by his quarterback, Matt Stafford with 24 and Lamar Miller who rushed for 13 points. With a six point lead and the Texans D yet to play, Nate survived a complete implosion thanks to 3 sacks and a fumble recovery to eke out a victory.
Final Score: The Bounchers 59 The Magic Wands 52
The one game that had a pair of 4-2 teams hooking up was not pretty. Alex and John both came out flat as only three total players hit double figures. John had two of those players which proved to be the difference as Kyle Orton...yup, Kyle Orton led all scorers with 19 and Ahmad Bradshaw chipped in with 17. Alex saw his kicker lead his team in scoring and with the loss, teams that have their kicker lead in scoring for the week are now 2-73 all time in FCNPFFL history. Fact. Look it up.
Final Score: The Situation 58 The Worthless Peons 38
Jason II was looking for his fourth straight win while keeping pace with the league leaders at 5-2 as he took on Adam who was in dire need of a second straight victory to keep his division hopes alive. Aaron Rodgers was the top game scorer with 30 points and Jason II had a 25 point edge on the team defense as his Colts scored 19 while Adam got -6 from the Panthers D. Cam Newton did score 17 for the 'Basers in a losing effort.
Final Score: Myra's College Fund 75 Biggums' 'Basers 34
Our two 3-3 teams played a very meaningful swing game this week. Matt and Mike both looked to stay a game out of first and we got a pretty good contest even with each team having two goose eggs. For Mike he got a game high 23 points from Andrew Luck while Matt countered with 22 from Golden Tate. Jamaal Charles tacked on 15 for Mike and Randall Cobb put up 14, but Matt wouldn't go easily as he got 13 from Matt Ryan, 12 from Andre Ellington and 11 from the Broncos D. What cost Matt though was his remaining two players posted just 4 more points while Mike saw his last three players put up 17 points.
Final Score: Bookoo Barbarians 69 Rainbows & Puppies 62
Our last game of the week actually saw a come from behind victory on MNF, which has been a rarity this season. Jody needed this game to keep any chance at making the playoffs while Luke was looking to join the tie atop the league at 5-2. Luke got 25 from Drew Brees and yet another strong outing from Antonio Gates with 10 points. Jody continued to get stellar play from Demaryius Thomas who posted 23, saw Roddy White get rowdy for 12, but lost CJ Spiller for the season as well. He needed 14 points from Big Ben on MNF to win and got 19 to secure win #2 on the season.

FCNPFFL: Week 6 Results
As we near the midway part of the season, (already?!?) owners should be making the proper moves either to bolster their team for a second half run towards making the playoffs or filling the holes of their team to ensure making the playoffs. Just, for the love of God, whatever you do, don't trade away Yoenis Cespedes!! Oh wait, wrong sport...but you know what I mean. I need therapy.
BYE WEEKS FOR WEEK 7: PHILADELPHIA and TAMPA BAY (although you could make the claim that the Bucs already took their week off against the Ravens in Week 6).
Waivers will be ran late Wednesday night as is the norm.
Before I get to the weekly recaps: I am put any WR not named Jordy on the trade block. All I want in return is a TE who is capable of catching a football. He need not have any other life skill other than possible scoring a single point or two on a weekly basis when it comes to fantasy football. If you don't offer to me, believe me when I tell you that 10-13 of you might just receive multiple offers from me this week if I get bored.
Okay onto the games:
Yet another tough game on paper for my squad as Luke and I were projected to score 183 total points and that was with Luke not even having Drew Brees available this week. I certainly did my part as everyone outside my non-existent TE scored in double figures. I led the league in scoring for the week and finished 25 points off the high water mark for a week of 152 points set back in 2012 by...of course Luke. Jay Cutler had 25 and Arian Foster scored 24 to lead the way. Luke got 14 from Austin Davis, but the rout was in full effect before he even stepped on the field.
Final Score: Escaped Lunatics 127 Deathtongue 55
The highest combined score of the week came in the matchup between the other Jason and Ben who put up a whopping 193 total points. Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers squared off as Rodgers got the edge 28-23 for Jasons' side. Each defense fared well, but again Jason got the edge with 25 from the Eagles while Ben settled for 'just' 16 from the 49ers D. Both teams got 15 from their kickers. Ben received 15 from Julius Thomas and 12 from Larry Fitzgerald while Jason got 19 from Steve Smith. Ben saw his lack of RB help hurt again this week with just 4 points and he came up a bit short.
Final Score: Myra's College Fund 104 The Magic Wands 89
We had our third triple digit scoring team of the week come from the game involving Joel and Nate. The Bounchers finally saw a bit of life out of LeSean McCoy who rumbled for 14 points, but it was nowhere near enough to compete this week. Joel got 28 from Philip Rivers, 25 from Matt Forte, 14 from the Titans D and 13 from this still perfect Chandler Catanzaro. Joel moves to 4-2 while Nate drops to 2-4 and got doubled up to boot.
Final Score: Nikachu 106 The Bounchers 53
A pair of 3-2 teams, coached by Matt and John, went to battle in a big swing game in the standings. Last week Matt made a trade to help bolster his team, but it was the free agent pickup of John last week that proved to be the difference this week. Branden Oliver scored 17 points for The Situation and he got 29 from his trio of Eagles on Sunday night to put the game away. Matt got 17 from the Broncos D and 16 from Matt Ryan in a losing effort.
Final Score: The Situation 80 Rainbows & Puppies 64
Two banged up teams met as both Jody and Mike were in dire need of something positive happening for their squads. Mike had the top scoring player of the game as Andrew Luck posted 28 points while Jody had two players combine for 28 with 14 each in Big Ben and Demaryius Thomas. At the RB position, the four active backs combined for just 3 points. Each team did get double digits from their kickers, so there's that.
Final Score: Bookoo Barbarians 65 DoggNutz 50
Despite leaving T.Y. Hilton on the bench, losing Victor Cruz for the season and getting -6 from his defense, Nick B had no troubles dispatching his namesake Nick G. Tom Brady busted out with 38 points, Gio Bernard scampered for 26 and Greg Olsen chipped in with 10 points to bolster The Knacks to their second win of the season. Colin Kaepernick did everything in his power to make the score look respectable with 36 on MNF, but it wasn't enough to offset three players combining for a single point.
Final Score: The Knacks 94 Lollipop Kids 78
The last game of the week was the only one with a semblance of drama heading into MNF. Alex who was sitting at 4-1 took on Adam who was equally as surprising sitting at 1-4. With 37 points from Cam Newton and 19 from Ben Tate, Adam had a decent lead going into Monday. Alex had received 24 from his Lions D, but needed a huge game from Michael Crabree to get back into it. While Crabtree did catch a TD he could only match Phil Dawson who was the final player for Adam of the week.

This will be a really telling week for the league. With 7 teams at 4-2 and only one head to head game involving them, this league can begin to separate like a broken meringue or congeal like leftover bacon fat. Either way with 9 teams at 4-2 or 3-3 it appears that every game will matter down the stretch and it is still anyone's league for the taking.

FCNPFFL: Week 4 Results (guest writer The Other Jason, Who Is Not Ike)
Week 5 Byes: Oakland, Miami. So, generally minimal impact, unless you were banking on a big week from Brian Hartline or Denarius Moore. And if that was the case, sorry?
Thursday Night Football: Minnesota Vikings @ Green Bay Packers
*Waivers as always will run late Wednesday night.
*Waivers as always will run late Wednesday night.
*Let the trade winds blow
Week 4 is a time to reflect on the standings and determine who the haves and have-nots are in the real life NFL. And it's the same in fantasy too. This is where the cream starts to separate. Except, well, not so much in the Falls Church News Press Fantasy Football League. *After Week 4 play, you have 0 undefeated teams, 0 winless teams, and 10 teams at 3-1 or 2-2. For those not so math-inclined, that's +50% of the league at or above .500 (Sorry, I'm a communication major). And if nothing else, this just means the stretch run is going to be that much more exciting. But before we get to the stretch run, let's take a look back at the Week 4 that was:
Not Ike's Myra's College Fund put together a dream Sunday bouncing back from a 45 point Week 3 with a 110 point week. Aaron Rodgers continued his 2014 roller coaster jamboree, this time trending upward, leading the way with 31 points. In addition to Rodgers, every player save for the disappointing (but "very talented young receiver"--every TV talking head) Cordarrelle Patterson beat their projections, and in the case of Frank Gore, shattered them with 26 points. Nick's Knacks, coming off a 115 point Week 3 performance, stood little chance playing two players on a bye. Heading into Monday's game needing 80 points from Tom Brady for a tie, the odds were more than stacked against the Knacks.. With Brady coming up a mere 73 points short of the 80 point effort, the win went to the College Fund.
Final Score: Myra's College Fund 110, The Knacks 37
Another blowout, as Jason's Lunatics ran it up on John's The Situation (this likely due in large part to the team's recent indictment). Despite receiving goose eggs from Jeremy Kerley and Ladarius Green, Jason ran away with the win thanks to another standout performance from the future IR-star DeMarco Murray. Add to that 19 points from Jordy Nelson and 20 from Jay Cutler and it was an easy march for Jason. John's first loss of the season falls squarely on the shoulders of his wide receivers, as Megatron and Jeremy Maclin managed just 4 points combined, with Johnson offering precisely zero of those points. Meanwhile, bench player Eddie Royal put up 19 points, proving once again that fantasy football is the absolute worst thing in the world. *-6 from the Patriots defense!!!!!!!
Final Score: Escaped Lunatics 80, The Situation 37
The trend of non-competitive games continues! Alex's Worthless Peons were led by two Minnesota Vikings players. And as anyone would have predicted during the preseason, those players were Blair Walsh (16 points) and Teddy Bridgewater (24 points). Nick's Lollipop Kids saw a disastrous (-6) performance from the Chicago Bears DST, which really put them behind the 8-ball after the 1 p.m. games and while 26 points from Colin Kaepernick sure did help, getting just 6 from Darren Sproles certainly didn't. Monday night's Patriots/Chiefs game left some bit of intrigue with Alex sending Steven Ridley and Nick sending Shane Vereen and Julian Edelman out on their behalfs. But with Kansas City's defense stifling the Patriots' increasingly pedestrian offense, nothing changed over the course of Monday Night Football as Alex notched his 3rd win of the season.
Final Score: Worthless Peons 75, Lollipop Kids 50
What was projected to be a close match turned into a 50 point slaughtering as Lucas' Deathtongue took Adam's 'Basers to the shed. The surprise performance of the week in fantasy (save for Matt Asiata) had to be Terrance Williams scoring 17 points on Sunday night, thanks to two TD receptions. Add to that 24 Drew Brees garbage points and a great day from his backfield and Lucas is riding high at 3-1. For Adam, the great fantasy axiom "If Your Kicker Was Your Leading Scorer, Something Went Horribly Wrong" held true, as Phil Dawson's 16 points led the way. A disappointing day from Andre Johnson and Julio Jones was certainly to blame, as was the Carolina Panthers defense, as they raked in a (-8) number for the week.
Final Score: Deathtongue 105, Biggums 'Basers 55
....And another blowout. Jody's week was in trouble by 11:00 p.m. on Thursday as Kirk Cousins went from looking like"the future" in Week 3 "to the future Brandon Weeden" in Week 4. With only Roddy White surpassing his projection total, and Matt Asiata's 26 point performance sitting on the bench, even Knile Davis against the Patriots' rush defense couldn't help Doggnutz. For Joel, there was balance all around. Despite the continued struggles of the obviously ailing Brandon Marshall, the win came easy as Antonio Brown (20), Matt Forte (15), Houston (15), and Phillip Rivers (30) all provided big days. The only question going in to Monday night's game was whether Travis Kelce could score the points necessary to give Joel the "Highest Scorer" crown. And then Jamaal Charles happened. Even a solid receiving night for Kelce was not enough to overtake Charles. Still, a solid win for Nikachu.
Final Score: Nikachu 108, Doggnutz 51
OMG A CLOSE GAME!!!! Riding the train to victory on the backs of Joe Flacco and Larry Donnell, Ben's Magic Wands just needed Stephen Gostkowski to show up healthy enough to score one point to give them the victory over Matt's Rainbows and Puppies. He got 2. If you had asked Ben how he would have felt about getting 14 points from his RB/WR group he probably would have wept softly. At least just a little. But every now and again, Joe Flacco shows up and says, "Hey, I'm a quarterback in the NFL and I can throw a football fairly well sometimes." Sunday was that time, as Flacco shredded the Panthers defense for 32 points. And every now and again, Larry Donnell catches 3 TD passes against a decimated WFT secondary. The saving grace for Matt? This wasn't a case of a bad management decision, as the bench only mustered 16 total points. This was a case of Jimmy Graham scoring 9 points. Against the Cowboys.
Final Score: Magic Wands 78, Rainbows & Puppies 76
Saving the best for last. Mike's Bookoo Barbarians led Nathan's Bounchers by 7 points heading in to Monday's Patriots/Chiefs game. Mike brought a healthier Jamaal Charles with him. Nathan brought the Fiesta (aka Rob Gronkowski). Ground game v. Passing game. The road to Monday saw Mike getting another solid performance from Andrew Luck (34 points) as well as a 17'er from Randall Cobb. For Nathan, he too was led by his QB, as Matthew Stafford scored 32 against the Jets' horrendous secondary. Even another startlingly bad week from LeSean McCoy couldn't keep Nathan down, as Lamar Miller picked up the slack, finding the endzone twice en route to 16 points. But it all came down to Monday...And it was over before it really started. The Chiefs found every possible way to give Charles the ball, short him kicking field goals, and he answered every call to the tune of 3 TDs. Meanwhile Rob Gronkowski and the Patriots offense did next-to-nothing until it was much too late, leaving the FCNPFFL without anything terribly compelling in Week 4. I blame the guest writer...

FCNPFFL: Week 3 Results (guest writer Nikachu)
I am not writing this next week so be sure to include your offer to
summarize next week's games with your kicker add/drop. {Editor's note: The other Jason has agreed to fill in for Week 4, thank you.}
Week 4 bye weeks are here! Arizona Cardinals, Cincinnati Bengals,
Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, St. Louis Rams, Seattle Seahawks
Instead of going out on top I am going to complain about the negative
kicker scoring. Why is it minus 2 points for a missed/blocked extra
point? It's only a one-point play! Minus 2 or plus 1 makes it a 3-point
swing ... I mean for an actual NFL team it is only a 1-point swing, you
either make it or don't. And what about those end-of-second-quarter
"what the hell" 59-yard field goals? That's a 7 point swing. Anyway I
don't like penalizing the kickers for missed kicks, especially on long
kicks it seems unfair. Who cares about kickers? Without these negative
points there'd be less variance. /rant {Editor's note: Missed FGs are -1 point, you get an extra -1 point if the kick is 39 yards or under...so screw you Kai Forbath}.
Thursday Thursday Thursday: New York Football Giants at Washington
Football Team
Virtually the entire league is 1-2 or 2-1. We are all just a few swirls
away from the toilet bowl. Last week's games:
Nick's Knacks served notice that they are all about the Hamiltons and
plan to go on a reign of terror through bye week season. All of Nick's
starters put up at least 10 points and even his bench scored 61. Jason's
team put up a strong outing except for Kyle Rudolph, whose value going
forward as Teddy Bridgewater's lead blocker is now in question. {Editor's note: $10 goes to Nick B after I won $10 last week and forgot to put that in}.
Final Score: Knacks 115, Escaped Lunatics 83
The Situation faced off against the 'Basers, and both teams were hurt by
subpar performances from the faltering Green Bay Packers, who put up
only 7 points against the faltering Lions. Julio Jones' explosion put
the 'Basers up early, but then John's smelladelphia combo of
Foles-to-Maclin combined for 45 points, nearly enough to put the game
away. Adam was burned badly by the Panthers D, with minus 7 points, who
actually played well ... for a half. The Situation ends the week as the
only 3-0 team in the league.
Final Score: Situation 92, Biggums' 'Basers 47
After one of the week's most inscrutable trades (seriously, Andrew Luck
for Sproles???), the reinvigorated Bookoo Barbarians rewarded GM Hume
with a victory, as Luck and the Colts D put up 54 points. Jordan
Matthews' 2 TDs from the bench probably earns him a starting spot and
now we are all in trouble. Ben's Magic Wands put up a solid performance
and he was only one lineup change from victory.
Final Score: Bookoo Barbarians 82, Magic Wands 76
On the dumb side of the Luck-for-Sproles trade, the Lollipop Kids faced
historically unlucky DoggNutz. Luck's replacement, Colin Kaepernick,
finally had a decent game, but the rest of the Kids combined for only 19
before the Bears put a hurting on the Jets Monday night. Just drop AP
now, you'll feel better. On the other side, Jody boldly started Kirk
Cousins and was rewarded with a monster day. Knile Davis put up 17, and
now Jody is going to trade him to me for Charles Clay. DoggNutz flawless
victory!
Final Score: DoggNutz 85, Lollipop Kids 59
Two of the NFL's most disappointing quarterbacks faced off as the
Worthless Peons took on Myra's College Fund. The Peons are looking
dangerous, as Marshawn Lynch's 22 points paced a solid team effort with
good bench support, overcoming Jake Locker's craptastic 12 points (5
rushing). Ike's team disappointed all around, the team meetings are
going to be tense this week. Next Sunday, Ike's rookies take the field.
One of you guys please trade Jody for one of his 3 quarterbacks.
Final Score: Worthless Peons 80, Myra's College Fund 45
Speaking of disappointing, my pathetic team Nikachu played Luke's
Deathtöngue and fell apart. Luke's team was led by Drew Brees and a TD
from Isaiah Crowell, while Antonio Gates followed up last week's 3-TD
performance by leading Luke's tight ends with 0 points. Meanwhile my
team got zero from Shayne Graham (-2 for a missed extra point! Argh) and
-1 from the Texans D, offsetting a huge night from Antonio Brown. Still
it looked OK for me going into Monday with top-two draft picks Matt
Forte and Brandon Marshall yet to play and only a dozen points to make
up to eke out a victory ... but no, Marshall's TD was called back.
Final Score: Deathtöngue 67, Nikachu 62
In the week's worst game, we should congratulate ourselves because this
is a much better worst game than last week. Rainbows & Puppies vs.
Bounchers, playing at home in breathtakingly beautiful Bounchers
Stadium. Matt Ryan started it off in one of the most ridiculous games of
the year, as the Falcons put up 35 points by midway in the second
quarter and were up something like 49-0 against the Bucs. The ease with
which the Falcons offense and defense scored held back Ryan's scoreline
but he still put up 26 points. Then Matt Stafford and the inscrutable
Lions took the field, delivering victory for Detroit but an unfortunate
8 points for Nate. LeSean McCoy managed only 2 points, as the Redskins
defense focused on stopping McCoy and Sproles and screwing up our
fantasy league, instead of noticing that Nick Foles was running the
Eagles down the field at will in a series of easy two-minute scoring
drives. Anyway, Hamme was led by Shaun Suisham with 14 points. Jimmy
Graham had an off week as the Saints' starters rested the second half
against Minnesota's practice squad. But everyone in this game scored at
least one point, orange slices for everybody!
Final Score: Rainbows & Puppies 67, Bounchers 54

FCNPFFL: Week 2 Results
(Written by league member Joel)
This is the part of the weekly summary where Jason customarily provides
some insight or distills some trend from the week's action. Well, all I
can say is that team Nikachu is building momentum and will be even
stronger with the first waiver pick I have been awarded for writing this
summary. In other news you are strongly urged to volunteer to do next
week's write-up or Jason will start reallocating next year's draft picks.
This week, prepare yourself for a Thursday NFC South basement battle
between the Bucs rushing attack, led by Josh McCown, and the Falcons
rushing attack, led by no one.
OK, now that I have forgotten the weekend, on to the game summaries:
Ike and Jason battled in the easily the week's best contest, as Aaron
Rodgers returned to 2012 form to bring Ike over 100 points but
unfortunately almost all of it went to Jordy Nelson, who led the
Lunatics with 25 points. Delanie Walker and Dan Bailey combined for 40
points, fully validating Ike's mystical draft strategy. But nothing
could stop the Lunatics, as six players hit double digits. Demarco
Murray and Arian Foster combined for 40 points and survived to week
three of the season without injury, making the Tics a very dangerous
team for at least another week or two when Jason will be scraping the
waiver wire for a health RB.
Final Score: Escaped Lunatics 118, Myra's College Fund 108
In the next highest-scoring game, the Situation and Lollipop Kids took
an interesting contest into Monday night with Andrew Luck and Nick Foles
facing off to decide the contest. But it was another unusually healthy
running back who carried the day for the Situation, as Ahmad Bradshaw
piled on 20 points, scoring two touchdowns and catching a pass for
virtually the first time in his NFL career, and then doing it again! But
the Patriots D was the real star for the Situation, as they humiliated
the Vikings no-name offense (who is playing them this week?).
Final Score: Situation 98, Lollipops 68
My team the mighty Nikachu responded well this week after I dropped Ray
Rice following another embarrassingly clumsy adjudication by Roger
Goodell. Rice joined Josh Gordon and Matt Prater on the Nikachu cut
list, finally ridding my team of evil-doers and keeping me on track to
again drop my entire roster by midseason. This week's matchup with
Hume's Bookoo Barbarians looked dead even on paper: one mediocre QB, one
good RB, one bad one, one Bears receiver, a bunch of other dudes. But
Hume got unlucky as Jamaal Charles was injured and Tony Romo finished
with only 12 points, despite the awful Cowboys winning a game (Romo
should be back to 4th quarter garbage points next week). Meanwhile,
Phillip Rivers shredded the legion of boom, making me look like a genius
and not just a guy who forgot to draft a second QB. Brandon Marshall
hauled in 3 TDs and Mark Ingram had a solid game, despite sustaining a
rumored broken hand that could force me to start the Quizz next week.
Incidentally, if someone wants to trade 1 good player for the entire
Atlanta backfield, it is on the block.

In our next matchup, DoggNutz continued Jody's "Quest for the Draft
Board 2015" versus Ben's Magic Wands. It got off to a great start, as
Ben Roethlisberger managed only 9 points in a drubbing by the Ravens,
while on the other side of the ball, Dennis PItta picked up only 2
despite the Ravens victory, confounding Jody and ruining his week before
it got started. Meanwhile, Ben's all-WR strategy brought good mojo. With
Terrence West now elevated to a starting role and Pierre Thomas sort of
occasionally playing, Ben put together 75 points led by Peyton Manning's
24. Next week will bring Jody a lineup conundrum at running back, but
one he can solve by trading Knile Davis to me for Travis Kelce and the
entire Atlanta backfield.

In another middling affair, Luke wins narrowly for coaching failure of
the week, as Deathtöngue's bench outscored its starters, 58-56. opening
the way for Jimmy Graham's Rainbows & Puppies to eke out a 65-56 victory
led by Graham's 19 points and 14 from Matt Ryan. The rest of Matt's team
turned in solid single digits, and with Josh McCown looking like the
second coming of Steve Young, a QB controversy is brewing as Matt Ryan
still plays for the Falcons, so his upside is severely limited. Luke
inexplicably started real-life benchwarmer Bishop Sankey, then watched
as his fantasy bench racked up 30 points on the ground, while benched
Antonio Gates turned a monster 3-TD performance against the collapsing
Seahawks defense, unfortunately also started by Luke.
Final Score: Rainbows & Puppies 65, Deathtöngue 56
The game that went down to the MNF wire was the game between Nick B and Adam. Our defending champ was looking for his first win of the year and he got healthy quickly behind 20 from Cam Newton. His other Panthers' 'player' was their defense and they roared for 17 points. Nick B responded with 20 from Gio Bernard and 15 from his Cincinnati defense. Going into MNF Nick B trailed by 11, but had his kicker, Adam Vinatieri left while Adam was using Colts TE Dwayne Allen. Vinatieri scored all the points between the two players on MNF, but it was only 9 points leaving him just two points short.

In the week's final game, Nate continues is quest for another undefeated
season based entirely on luck and mesmerizing his opponents. Matt
Stafford started strong for the Bounchers, before the Lions offense
completely collapsed against Carolina, taking the rest of Nate's Sunday
with it. Meanwhile, Alex's Sunday started poorly and ended poorly, with
Beast Mode at least contributing his customary touchdown and Jake Locker
scoring 17. The rest of the Peons starters combined for only 11 total
points, while Steven Ridley and Michael Crabtree put up double digits on
the bench, and even 'Lil Beast Mode managed 8. Still, Alex took a narrow
lead into Monday night, only to see LeSean McCoy out-duel Reggie Wayne,
delivering victory in the week's most pathetic game to Hamme's
Bounchers, who are now 2-0.

FCNPFFL: Week 1 Results
For
the first time since I've taken over as commish of this fine league I
find myself in a position where I: 1) not working Tuesday nights 2) not
at a job with enough down time to type this up during the day. That
being said, coming home and not being able to get out a recap until 8pm
on a Tuesday is too late for my liking.
What
I am going to ask of the group is for any volunteers to take on writing
a recap email each week. It would be awesome if 5-6 people stepped up
to write 1-2 weeks and I'll pick up the rest. My goal is to have someone
get the email out either late Monday night (like I used to do back in
the day) or in time for a lunch time read like I have in more recent
years. I know we all have 'real' jobs now and I probably won't get any
takers, but if I do, thank you in advance.
My
new job will be at its busiest here during September so this might be
the earliest I have a chance to write this for the rest of the month.
There are no BYE weeks in Week 2.
Waivers
will commence late Wednesday night. As a reminder please put all your
choices on the website. If you email them to me I will delete the email
immediately. After the waivers have been processed you will be free to
add any kicker/defense by emailing me and I will process them in turn.
Okay onto the games:
Keeping
with tradition I'll lead off with my game against Alex whose skill set
has been embiggened (which is a perfectly cromulent word) by his
promotion at the Washington Post this season. He started the season on
the right with 23 points from Marshawn Lynch on Thursday night. My team
was shaken, but not beaten as I got steady performances from Jay Cutler
(23 points) and DeMarco Murray (16 points). Alex was bolstered by a 20
point performance from AJ Green (17 points on one play). The game was
still in doubt late into the night on Monday, but QB Carson Palmer had
some late magic that didn't go to my WR Michael Floyd to win the game
for Alex..

Our
preseason favorite (per CBS) Ben drew Joel in Week 1 and did the
favorite ever deliver. Using the en vogue 0 RB draft method, Ben got 25
from Peyton Manning and 24 from Julius Thomas. His other strength, the
WRs actually came up empty with just 4 points, but, go figure, Ben got
16 from his RBs which now include 2 starters as Ben Tate was lost to
injury in Cleveland. What elevated his Week 1 performance to a $10
winning performance was 20 points from his 49ers defense. Joel didn't
have a horrible week with 15 from Philip Rivers and 13 each from Matt
Forte and Daniel LaRusso aka Antonio Brown.
Final Score: The Magic Wands 99 Nikachu 68
Right
behind Ben for Week 1 supremacy was John who took on Nick B. Both teams
scored well, but with 28 from Megatron, 23 from Nick Foles, 18 from
Jeremy Maclin, 11 from Ryan Mathews and 10 Martellus Bennett he was able
to overcome the Houdini performance from last years bust Doug Martin
who is well on his way to a repeat performance. Nick B was led by
Le'Veon Bell who dropped in the draft due to his DWI, but was great in
Week 1 with 21 points. Tom Brady scored 12, Greg Olsen tacked on 11 and
the Bengals clawed their way to 10 points.
Final Score: The Situation 96 The Knacks 73
And
then there was Adam who scoffed at the defending champ curse of this
league and then, well, got smacked in the face with it. He 'battled'
Nick G on paper, but he really was up against the injury bug this
weekend. Cam Newton, Eddie Lacy, Ben Tate and Jordan Cameron all either
didn't play or left early with an injury. Only the Panthers D managed to
eclipse double figures as Adam may nearly have set a record for
futility in Week 1 for the FCNPFFL. Nick G had no such problems as
Andrew Luck and his 31 points nearly won the game outright. He got 11
from Shane Vereen and decent performances from AP, Percy Harvin, Julian
Edelman and Steven Hauschka to win easily.
Final Score: The Lollipop Kids 78 Biggums' 'Basers 35
Luke
and Mike paired up and our new defensive scoring was in full effect in
this game. Luke started the stout Seahawks defense and they mustered a
quality 12 points while Mike started the Saints 'defense' and were
treated to our first ever, and new worst score ever, -5 points. That 17
points swing went a long way into deciding this game. Luke was led by
the strongest part of the Saints (the offense) with 19 from Drew Brees
and 12 from rookie Brandin Cooks. He also got 14 from Vernon Davis to
round out the victory. Mike got 15 from Tony Romo and 14 from Mike
Nugent in the loss.
Final Score: Deathtongue 82 Bookoo Barbarians 56
Back
to a closer game: Matt and Ike tussled in a game that wasn't decided
until the wee hours on Monday as Ike jumped out behind 23 from
Cordarrelle Patterson and his awesome running ability, 13 from Montee
Ball and a very pedestrian 12 from Aaron Rodgers. Matt nearly climbed
all the way back behind the right arm of Matt Ryan who torched Mike's
defense for 39 points setting an Atlanta passing record. Going into the
MNF games Matt had Golden Tate and a gimpy Andre Ellington to try and
make up a 16 point deficit. He got 6 from Tate early, but an early
fumble by Ellington in the nightcap led to a lowly 4 points and a six
point loss.
Final Score: Myra's College Fund 79 Rainbows & Puppies 73
In
our final game we got another high scoring game between our defending
runner up, Nate, and our defending draft board monkey, Jody. Big Ben
came out hot for Jody with 21, kicker Matt Bryant was strong with 18, CJ
Spiller tacked on 11 and Roddy White got rowdy with 10 points to get
the 'Nutz rolling. Nate got 19 from Knowshon Moreno and 13 from Shaun
Suisham, but was also hit by his defense racking up -3 points. He
trailed by 24 points with Matt Stafford and Keenan Allen left to play.
By the time Allen stepped onto the field, the difference had been made
up thanks to Stafford destroying the Giants defense for 36 points.
Final Score: The Bounchers 86 DoggNutz 72
